Research Blog

 Today mw and my group decided to start our research about our commercial topic. We have been discussing for a few days and finally came up with a topic. That topic being Crayola crayons. We will use this commercial to "promote" them, but we need our research to do it properly. 

With this research, we looked at different Crayola commercials and seeing what happens in them portray it accurately as well as doing other things.

What was in the commercial?

  • Children using the markers/having fun with markers.
  • Bright colors and really bright lighting.
  • Lots of laughing and smiles
  • Narrator voice over
  • Soothing feeling   

To be able to recreate the same feeling and nostalgia that we got from watching those commercials in the past, that will be when we know we are doing something right as we would like to send the same image as the original commercials. It teaches us the importance of having and making a colorful world out of nothing but small pencil shaped pieces of color. We would love to be able to express power and creativity it did for themselves. Naturally when watch a Crayola commercial, the actors are mostly kids as the company often aims for that age range. We will not be using actors from that age range, but we will try to make it more appealing to the age range we are in now. We will not have many props to go around except for the basics like the Crayola supplies and paper. We will try to match that same set up that the commercial provided. Of course, there's a chance where this might go down hill and with this idea in mind we have a back up plan we can rely on.

When observing old Crayola commercials feels and styles, they often contain a wonderland like feel with bright colors and it would be a pain for some and comforting for others. It's nice to look at but even harder to recreate with less professional equipment. We would like to recreate some acting that usually happens in those commercials and use the dialogue from it and put it in our newly revision part. Our group will try our best to make this happen and earn the grade we will get for this; we would like to dedicate a lot of time to this to get it done. With this, we will be signing off with research for today and try get more for tomorrow.
